About Meg
My passionate interest in pregnancy and babies began as a child. I am the youngest of five children and so grew up in a large family where we were always welcoming a new baby – I first became an aunt when I was just 7 years old!
I always wanted to be a nurse, but my parents persuaded me to shelve that idea and do a business studies course, which I completed and subsequently pursued a career in marketing for 15 years. A nice job with sociable hours and an ok income, but it didn't light me up. After the birth of my second child, I had an overwhelming desire to train as a midwife, but it wasn't until that baby was 7 that everything fell into place for me to be able to fulfil my dream. I qualified with first class honours in 2004 and then had a wonderful 15 years working in both high risk and community settings, always proud to be a midwife.
The role changed over the years and I found myself searching for that thing to light me up again. The part I loved about being a community midwife was the interaction with couples and families and building relationships with them during their journey into parenthood, Plus, I love being around babies! Being a maternity nurse ticks all the boxes and lights me up completely! I get to use my clinical knowledge, together with my experience as a midwife and a mother of four, plus my more recent coaching qualifications and roll it all into one, to really make a difference to the families that I stay with.
Being in the hub of family life when a new baby is being welcomed is the place where I feel complete and totally at home!
